To be a vampire

To hunt for blood

Not the dresses, nor the fancy dinners

Not romance, nor companionship

To be a cat

To delve in hatred and grow resentment

Not the good times, nor the moments

Not the circle, nor the pleasantries

To be an ant

To follow the herd

Not the emancipation, nor the enlightenment

Not the meaning, nor the goals

To be a slugger

To lead in euphoria

Not the salary, nor the hills

Not the utilities, nor the pills

To be a worm

To seek the monotony

Not the drapes, nor the reach

Not the furnishings, nor the beach

To be so myopic

To feed on ignorance

Not the material, nor the thoughts

Not the ideas, nor the innate desire

Would it be easier to lose it all and have it all?
